Assignment #1

 “The Necromancer’s Mother”

Logline:

Naltharon is the nigh-invincible Lord of Darkness, but the greatest hindrance to his malevolent schemes is his middle-aged mother, Erica.

Info/Bg:

Lord Naltharon

32, Male, Lich Necromancer

-born Naltharon Curtis, raised in a fairly average suburban family in Fantasy Iowa

-went to college to be a physical therapist (minored in dark magic)

-had trouble finding a job in his field after college; after a year working at Fantasy Starbucks went back for his Master’s in special education

-still unable to find a secure job at the age of 27, Naltharon was still living with his mother who would only buy him necessity items (food, clothes, etc.) and would not pay for his video games

-reinvesting himself in dark magic, Naltharon made a deal with the Patron, selling his soul for money

-As Naltharon’s power grew, so did his offerings to the Patron, and he vowed to have his revenge against the employment system

-In his greatest bid yet, Naltharon was made the Lord of Shadows by the Patron, securing his route to conquest

-The dead body under his bed is that of Keith, the Pizza Tavern delivery guy whom Naltharon lured into his lair several days ago to use as a sacrifice

Erica Curtis

59, Female, Pharmacist

-met and married Arborion the Beheader when she was 21, they had Naltharon when she was 25

-Erica and Arborion divorced amicably five years later but Arborion failed to keep in touch or pay support checks

-Erica works as a pharmacist at Fantasy CVS and supports her son on the side, but has been increasingly disappointed in his inability to find work or clean up after himself

-Problems around the house only increased after Naltharon sold his soul to become a lich, often forgetting to do his laundry, not cleaning up after himself, and bringing cadavers into the house

-Erica cares about Naltharon well enough and is supportive of him, but she’s easily frustrated with him and doesn’t often take him seriously.  Honestly, she just wishes he’d learn better and get his life together, but somehow that’s too hard for him, apparently..!

-If there’s anyone Naltharon respects more than The Patron, it’s his mother.  However, he often finds that his mother gets in his way, and sees her as a nuisance -- regardless, he tends to be a bit of a doormat in her presence (but rather defiant when not)
